15) MUSIC ALBUM DESIGN

*DEADLINE (SKETCH): 27 MARCH

*DEADLINE (FINAL): 10 APRIL

*MATERIALS FOR WEEK 22-26: Magazines, newspaper, scissors, glue, notes (white paper for sketch), 1 bloc page, pencil.

For English/American cultural week we are going to make in the high school, we are going to work in Visual Arts with collage, designing a music album cover.

Personal vinyl collection. Look that there are also more minimal or abstract designs

  • First of all, look at home if your parents have vinyls or cds to look for examples and ideas.
  • Think about a music group/singer you like, she/he/they has/have to be American or English.
  • Think about that artist/s, the colors he/she/they use/s, music style... this is like we worked with color and the symbolism while making the color visual maps. ¿Se puede ver la música?
  • You will have to design, in a squared format, (formato cuadrado) the cover for an album (cd or vinyl). It could be an imagirany album, one redesign or a design cover for a specific song.
  • You should use the collage technic, making first of all a sketch (on your notes/white page) and later the final one with collage (on a bloc page).
  • At the music album cover, there should appear the name of the group/singer and the name of the album or song.
  • You will also have to write (when uploading the final photo) your inspiration, what is the album/song about, what is the singer style and why did you choose that design (why the colors you used, typography...).

COMPOSITION

When we create something visually, we are designing to make the piece good seen. We are designing taking into account things like balance (equilibrio), visual weight (peso visual) and composition (composición). We have already worked with proportions (when we draw the mannequin).

You can also change the type of voice, woman/man...

*Explaining vídeo.

As you can see, shots can be really usefull, but also camera movements. They are also used in short films, films, TV, music videos... One example could be the Zoom you already know, but there are more:

ACTIVITY:

1) Viewfinder (for saturday 13):
- Your have to bring next day to class one medium doll/figure/character, your notes, ruler, pencil, colors and one bloc page.
- Create your viewfinder (visor) as a frame, to work with it as if we were filming or taking pictures of the character. It has to be 16x9 cm (one format used in television, for example).

- You can also decorate your viewfinder to make it more creative.
- Upload the viewfinder to the next Padlet.

2) Sketch (for saturday 20):
- Start working with your figure and your viewfinder.
- You will have to move the frame around your character to look for 5 different shots and 4 different angles.
- Copy what you see on your notes (draw as sketches) and don't forget to write the shot or angle you are working with.
Upload the sketch with your shots and angles to the Padlet.

3) OPTIONAL: Final (for Saturday 20):
- Then choose 4 shot+angle to make them on a bloc page. It should be mixing one shot and one angle in a cleaner way, with ruler. Then color it.
- Upload the final one on the bloc page to the Padlet.
