GEOMETRY IN CHRISTMAS - POSTCARDS CONTEST

We are going to do something for Christmas. We will work with SYMMETRY in a radial way, to create stars like SNOWFLAKES to paste them later on a Christmas Postcard and participate on a CONTEST.

TASK:

You will have to create different snowflakes, different sizes and forms and paste them on the cardboard and decorate it as a Xmas postcard. You can do as many snowflakes as you want and we will paste some of them on the windows inside the classroom and the highschool too.

DEADLINE:

You will have to give me your postcard (to the art teacher) the second day we are going to be working in class or if you want to finish it at home during the next puente, give it to me next 9th of December at 12:45h at he Art Department (don't forget to write your name at the back cover).

MARK:

You will have a mark and, if it is really good done, you can participate in the contest. There will be a prize for the best Christmas Postcards! You will also have a positive mark if it is chosen ;)

SOME VOCABULARY we are going to work with:

- Snowflake (copo de nieve).

- SYMMETRY: It is the quality of being made up of exactly similar parts facing each other or around an axis. (simetría).

- Axis (eje).

- Cover (portada).

- Back cover (contraportada).

- We are going to repeat a unit or a piece, create rhythm (ritmo) and build a snowflake to decorate our postcards.

- Some verbs: fold (doblar), paste (pegar), cut (cortar).

MATERIALS:

• Paper: white and different colors.
• Scissors (tijeras)
• Glue (pegamento)
• Colored cardboards Din A5.
• Decoration to the postcards.
• Markers of different colors.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Cut the papers to create different snowflakes (videos below)
2. Cut the DINA A 4 cardboard to have 2 different DINA A 5 cardboards.
3. Write your name + initial of surname + course at the back cover.
4. Paste your snowflakes at the cover
5. Decorate your postcard, the cover and be as creative as you can!

RUBRIC I WILL USE TO CORRECT YOUR POSTCARD:

HALLOWEEN - 5) Final fashion design

Here you have the explanation of the final part of the Halloween project and this will be a mark for the 2nd evaluation. Remember that you will have one mark for the 1st evaluation, using your ICONS project mark and the HALLOWEEN one. Don't forget to read the rubrics I use to correct them and upload the tasks before SATURDAY 27TH NOVEMBER, then all the Padlets will be closed, do it before the deadline!

We are going to finish the Halloween Fashion Design. Remember that we are going to choose 1 of them and make them into 1 bloc page, in a clean way. You can mix the ideas you liked most from your character sketches.

You will need those next materials:

• Your previous sketches (faces, character sketches with movements, fashion designs, ideas from Halloween applied and visual textures).
• Set squares and ruler
• Pencil HB (for drawing) and pencil H (technical drawing with ruler).
• Pencil colours or markers
• Dark (outline) and blue or dark pen (write the titles).
• Textures (recycled) to paste, scissors and glue.

How can it be a 10?

The measures have to be perfect, with parallel lines to write the titles with perfect typography and outline the texts, the title with the name of the character inspired in Halloween (as the title we already did), details from the character, fashion designs with visual textures and colours and the tactile textures pasted on the last one. Once you post it with your name, write on the post (in English) the design, the ideas you used or even the song it was designed for.

You will have to finish and upload it before 18th December, take the picture, edit the photo and upload it to the Padlet below. Don't forget to write your Name + initial of your surname, in the correct column.

HALLOWEEN - 4) Character sketches + fashion designs + textures

*Don't forget to upload the Character investigation to the Padlet before the deadline.

We have been working with sketches. Remember that sketches are usually made with pencil, fast and we don't wipe off (borrar), because we are practicing and making different drawings.

We have done some sketches using the manikin, drawing what we see, with the body proportions and the movement.

Later, you have applied those drawing ideas into your sketches from your singer or videogame character. You have worked with the face, symmetry, making gestures and later with the body from your character creating different movements.

  

We are going to apply the mannewuin task on your character, doing sketches. Later you will have to apply Halloween ideas on the clothes from your character, from the previous Brainstorming you made, to make different fashion designs:

Videogame character called Sora (from Kingdom Hearts videogame) who transforms his clothes when he travels to the Halloween world.

And also some visual textures with different types of lines. You see that there are visual or tactile textures, and also natural and artifitial ones.

HALLOWEEN - 2) Brainstorming and 3) Character investigation

Here you have to do 2 tasks: a Brainstorming and a Character investigation.

2) BRAINSTORMING

There are many more creativity techniques as you can read here, but we are going to work with BRAINSTORMING (lluvia de ideas):

'The basis of brainstorming is generating ideas in a group situation based on the principle of suspending judgment – a principle which scientific research has proved to be highly productive in individual effort as well as group effort.'

- BRAINSTORMING TASK: Think about everything you can about Halloween. Include different groups (at least 5), it could be colours, animals, forms, objects, films, songs... Do it on a white paper and I want you to upload the photo of your Brainstorming + other ideas we worked on the class all together. Remember to take the picture, cut it, edit it... and upload to the column of your group.

3) CHARACTER INVESTIGATION:
Before designing the fashion design to your character (singer or videogame character), you have to look for photos and some information about him/her.

- CHARACTER INVESTIGATION TASK: I want you to collect all of the photos + information from your character on a Word Document and make a PDF to upload it to the next Padlet.

HALLOWEEN - Project and 1) Typography

We are going to start the first project inspired in Halloween 👻

Remember the Lady Gaga's project I showed you in class, with several fashion designs inspired in oriental ideas.

We are going to do something similar with 3 different fashion designs inspired in Halloween.

Steps you have to follow:

- First of all, think about a videogame character or a singer you like.

- Then you have to look for information about the character/singer. Look for photos where you can see what the singer usually wears, the clothes he/she wears, ideas... Download the photos and keep them in your mobile phone or print them.

- At last, think about Halloween ideas. Write down all the ideas you have or look for photos / videos related to Halloween. They can be colors, forms, textures, objects, make-up, videoclips, cinema... Download the photos and keep them in your mobile phone or print them.

*Start taking notes of all the ideas above you have, ypou will need them later.

Look at some examples of Typography, we can play with the letters, the forms, sizes... they can be inspired in a lot of different things!

On a white paper think about your halloween title using "Halloween fashion design". First do it with pencil on the paper and later on a bloc page bigger, with colors... Take a picture of the sketch and the final and upload it to the next Padlet.
