CINEMA - Stop motion and flipbook

We have been working with the comic project with types of shots and angles, but they are also used in cinema:

Stop motion I created with cardboards, inspired by Keith Haring style.

We are going to work with cinema and learn the Stop Motion technique. Look at the next interactive Genially to follow the steps to create a video with stop motion technique.

TASKS:

1) Flipbook sheets teacher gave you: complete, take picture and record a video with movement.
*Flipbook examples and how to do it.
*More info about flipbook here.

2) Stop motion with Stop Frame Animator.

3) Animate a drawing with Animated Drawings.

4) Watch a film with the Stop Motion technique.

5) Extras:

*Extra: gif with Pivot (you have to download). Examples here.
*Extra: storyboard about the comic you made, using StoryboardThat.

TECHNICAL DRAWING - Perpendicular bisector, bisector, angles and circumference

We are going to work a little bit more with technical drawing. We need the next materials:
  • Set squares
  • Ruler
  • Compass
  • H or 2H pencil (or HB if we don't have it).
We are going to work with videos to draw the constructions. We should use the pencil and the materials and outline the final results with a drak pen. The titles should be in English and don't forget to add your name with 3 parallel lines.

*Do it in English

1) Mediatriz de un segmento. (Perpendicular bisector).
2) Bisectriz de un ángulo. (Bisector).
3) Mover un ángulo. (To move an angle)
4) Sumar dos ángulos. (To add up two angles).
5) Averiguar la circunferencia que pasa por 3 puntos dados. (The circumference when given 3 points).

  • Week 6-10 Junio: technical drawing.
  • Saturday 11 June: 3rd term retake + final retake + upload technical drawing.
  • Week 13-17 June: cinema.
  • Week 18 June: extras to have more mark.
  • Week 20-24 June: publicity.

18) OVALS AND OVOIDS 2/2

Complete the next two activities also related to ovals and ovoids.

1) FIND OVALS AND OVOIDS AT HOME: First of all, look at home and look for objects based on oval and ovoid construction. Put all of them on a surface, take a picture with all the objects/things you found and upload it to this next Padlet.

*Link to see examples from previous year.
*More examples here.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

2) DESIGN AND ART PROJECT: On the back of the page with ovals and ovoids constructions, copy and trace (calca) the 4 constructions, so you will have them in a vertical way. You will have to do parallel lines to write the titles.

Now you have to design 4 objects inspired by 4 different artists.

First of all, decide the objects:

- OVOIDS: choose 2 from this list:
  • Nail decoration
  • Easter egg
  • Guitar pick (púa de guitarra)
  • Another object from your imagination with the ovoid form.

OVALS: choose 2 from this list:
  • Mirror
  • Jewel
  • Another object from your imagination with the oval form.

 *More examples here: link.

Secondly, decide 4 artists from this list. Look for them on Google images and try to copy the style and elements that you think represent his/her art:

- Yayoi Kusama
- Andy Warhol
- Piet Mondrian
- Sonia Delaunay
- Roy Lichtenstein
- Keith Haring
- Okuda San Miguel
- Pablo Picasso
- Joan Miró
- Alexander Calder
- Kandinsky
- Gustav Klimt
- Paul Klee

Now you have decided the 4 objects you are going to design and the 4 artists you are going to use as an inspiration.
Draw them with your own original designs, writing down what you decided to design and the artist, and paint them with COLOUR PENCILS.

Example finished (don't copy the same I did, be creative and make yours different, I know you can):

*Link to see examples from previous year.
*More examples here.

17) OVALS AND OVOIDS 1/2

Now we are going to learn how to work with ovals and ovoids, both constructions based on circumferences, not like ellipses.

Watch these videos and learn how to draw them in different cases:

1) Construction of an oval knowing the major axis (8cm):

2) Construction of an ovoid knowing the major axis (6cm) (in Spanish):

3) Construction of an oval knowing the minor axis (5cm):

  4) Construction of an ovoid knowing the minor axis (6cm):

- Activity 1: construct the 2 ovals and 2 ovoids above on your bloc. Check the axis (ejes) measurements (medidas) on the example.

*Upload all the tasks to the Padlet below.

*EXTRA ACTIVITY:

- Think about the coronavirus as a character. Of course it/she/he should be a villain.
- Your are going to create your villain on Voki, a digital tool.
- Click here to open the tool. Click on the left to change the character, accesories, background and color. You have to personalize your Coronavirus villain like it is made on Sims, for example.
- You have also to click on voice to make your character talk. Enter your message writing it down. You can make a description of your character: the name (Coronavirus), things that it/she/it loves doing, the attacks... (think about the coronavirus). You can also change the type of voice, woman/man...
- Once you have finished, click on save (down right), name it like Coronavirus + your name, click on save, click on No thanks (down) and copy URL and paste directly on the next Padlet. You can see how to post it explained with arrows in these next images:

DIGITAL COLOUR (Tic subtractive and additive)

As you have seen working with the mind map, there are two different kind of colour mixing.

The one we usually work at class is this one:
- When we talk about SUBTRACTIVE COLOR MIXING, we talk about PIGMENT.
- The primary colors are: CMY (Cyan, Magenta and Yellow).
- When we mix them we have BLACK.
- This is what happens when we mix primary subtractive colours using markers, pencil colours, watercolor...

But we also have this one:
- When we talk about ADDITIVE COLOR MIXING, we talk about LIGHT.
- The primary colors are: RGB (Red, Green and Blue).
- When we mix them we have WHITE.
- This is what happens when we mix primary additive colours using light.

Here you can see the difference:

ADDITIVE COLOR MIXING - LIGHT:            SUBTRACTIVE COLOR MIXING - PIGMENT:

Now I want you to work with this two different types of colour mixing in a digital way.
You will have to make 2 activities and send me the images through the next Padlet.
Read this information to learn how to capture you work in order to send it to me.

1) First of all, we are going to work with SUBTRACTIVE COLOR MIXING, with COMPLEMENTARY colours. Remember they are opposite on the wheel:

PRIMARY.......................................................SECONDARY
YELLOW............................................PURPLE(magenta+cyan)
CYAN...........................................ORANGE (yellow+magenta)
MAGENTA.............................................GREEN (yellow+cyan)

ACTIVITY 1:
- This is the first activity you have to make using digital tools.
- You can play digitally with different tools. There are games and different information about warm and cool colours, design...
  • Color Scheme Designer. Working with warm and colod colors, opposite ones... and colorblind.
  • Color Palette Generator. Enter the URL of an image to get a color palette that matches the image. This is useful for coming up with a website color palette that matches a key image a client wants.

2) Secondly, we are going to work with ADDITIVE COLOR MIXING, with LIGHT colours.

This is a course I made, in order to learn more about the additive color mixing. Look how much you can play with the light:

Link in Mediateca here

Now you are also going to play with the light using Light Labs digital tools.
Look at this example. Using the primary light colours, I moved the tools to create the mixture: the white color. Look at what happens with the shadows and mixtures:

White light created using the primary light colors here

ACTIVITY 2:
- This is the second activity you have to make using digital tools, to work with light as I explained above.
- Open the tool and make the activity: click here.
- You have to move the buttons, right-left, to change the HUE, VALUE and SATURATION (as you learned making the mind map) to create different mixtures, shadows... playing with the light.
- Try to be creative and build your own ambient.
- When you finish it, capture the image and send me through email. You can learn how to capture the image here.

EXTRA ACTIVITY:
- This is an optional activity.
- You have more tools to play with light and shadows:
  • Light lab. To play on a scene, playing with different lights and shadows.
  • Gobo lab. To play with different shadow forms using gobos.
- Play and move the buttons using different tools you find there.
- When you finish it, capture the image (or images) and send me through the next Padlet. You can learn how to capture the image here.

COLOUR - Mind map

*Read book pages 15-19

*Colours and race, made by Hannah.
*Skin colour?

*Video dj Color.

There is a video on Disney + I recomend you to watch:
If you have Disney +, go to the search button and write 'brain games'. Then go to the 3th season and watch the 2nd chapter called "A todo color".

Now we are going to start working with COLOUR (you can also write it like COLOR).

First of all, I want you to learn what a VISUAL MAP (mapa visual) or MIND MAP is. Later we will work with some online aplications to work with color digital y and then de will apply on another project.

Here you can see a mind map, explaining why it is a good idea to make them:

Image from here

*Visual thinking video.

You can also use them to study other subjects! It is very visual and helps you to organice the ideas. You can be as creative as you want. Remember that humans remember much better images, maps, photos... than words.

Now, we continue with COLOUR.

To begin with, listen to these two songs about colour:

Read the next ideas about colour:

Here you have an example of a mind map about colour, from a student I had last year:

Mind map from Laura M.

You can see there information about colour (in Spanish), but this is how you have to do the next activity.

ACTIVITY:
You are going to make a MIND MAP about COLOUR. It has to be this way:
  • You have to resume the info you have in this image (to make a mind map), look for the words you don't know:
  • It has to be IN ENGLISH (look for the words you don't know in Google)
  • Make your OWN MIND MAP on a new bloc page (horizontal). You can use 2 pages to make the map bigger (DIN A 3), pasting them with cellotape on the back.
  • Don't copy the example above, I will check that.
  • It has to be as CREATIVE as you can.
  • Add as many IMAGES/ICONS as you can, to make it more visual, with colours, arrows, lines...
  • Don't forget to write, with parallel lines, your name, initial of your surname and group.
*Link to see more examples from other years.
*Link to see more examples from other years.

Add your Mind Map (sketch and final) to this Padlet (open bigger here).
